Hannah’s experience as a BIG ALLIANCE volunteer

Name: Hannah Moore

Company and role:
Euromonitor International, CSR Project Manager

BIG Alliance programme: Samuel Rhodes Mentoring Programme, Mentoring Works

Why is volunteering important at Euromonitor?
The Euromonitor CSR Programme is strongly focused on community impact. We offer two days paid leave each year for our staff to spend on volunteering. Projects supported by our offices around the world include mentoring, external eco-projects and education and refugee support programmes.

What do you think the Euromonitor volunteers gain from getting involved in volunteer opportunities with BIG Alliance?
Our volunteers gain so much being involved in opportunities with BIG Alliance. They get to learn more about the local community, meet new people and make a positive impact. In the Samuel Rhodes Mentoring Programme volunteers gain better communication skills as well as working with young people and gaining mentees trust.

Have you personally been volunteering with BIG Alliance? How was your experience?
I have volunteered with BIG Alliance on many different opportunities over the past 7 years. Ranging from team field volunteering, mentoring programmes and workshops. The Big Alliance team are always outstanding in communicating with volunteers what is expected of them and how their volunteering experience will be. They work hard to ensure the experience is great for the volunteers as well ensuring there is a big impact in the community.

What advice would you give to your colleagues who are thinking about volunteering?

I encourage all my colleagues to volunteer especially with the Samuel Rhodes Mentoring Programme. This year the volunteers and myself have renamed the sessions ‘Happy Hour’, an hour working with fantastic young people building their skills and showing them the world of work. Our faces hurt at the end of session from all the smiling and laughing, it is such a special hour!
