BIG Alliance programme: Mentoring Works

Why did you decide to volunteer on this specific programme?

This programme was a great opportunity to give back to young people, particularly given the uncertain times we have gone through recently, and to leverage the skills and knowledge that are unique to my career path.

How have you found the programme? What have you enjoyed?

As the mentoring sessions have come along, it’s been enjoyable to watch my mentees begin to form enthusiasm for the paths they want to take after secondary education. It also breaks up the afternoon nicely!

What do you hope to have achieved by the end of it?

I hope that my mentees will have a strong idea of what they want to do after school and how best to achieve it. I also hope that their goals fit with their visions for their lives.

What advice would you give to your colleagues who are thinking about volunteering?

Volunteering through BIG Alliance is a fun and efficient way to give back to the local community. It is especially pleasing to pass on knowledge and experience that others may not have received otherwise.
